Miracle On Seel Street

I’m not going to lie, I am a Grinch.

Years of working in retail and customer service has removed any joy from Christmas shopping, Gregg’s festive bakes and overpriced seasonal beverages. This year however is a different story. This year I have decided not to do Christmas and I’ll be spending my Christmas Day on holiday, sipping a cocktail, and not thinking about where to donate my unwanted presents to (more on that later).

All that being said, now that I’ve denounced Christmas, this year I am feeling more festive that ever. Christmas shopping? No problem, I’m not doing it so I’ll just buy presents for myself! Christmas jumper day? I’ll be chilling in a classic fisherman knit, thank-you very much. Christmas night out? Oh go on then, because it would be rude to turn down an invite to Miracle On Seel Street, the coolest Christmas grotto I’ve ever been in.

Miracle On Seel Street is brought to you by the guys behind Salt Dog Slim’s, El Bandito, and Santa Maluco. Amazing cocktails, creative bar snacks (pigs in blankets forever), and super friendly staff can all be found at Miracle On Seel Street, above Salt Dog Slim’s and the “secret” 81LTD

Decorations to rival Buddy the Elf’s display at Gimbles, Miracle On Seel Street truly is a winter wonderland. Cosy leather couches, multiple Christmas trees, and framed pictures of all your favourite Christmas characters – it is the perfect place to sip a festive cocktail and maybe even have some cookies and milk (they’re on the menu).

Are you feeling super festive? A lot of people won’t be this year. Donating any leftover food, unwanted gifts, cash or even a bit of your time will make a huge difference. Here’s a list of some organisations around Liverpool that can help you help someone else this Christmas:

The Whitechapel Centre – an amazing organisation, enabling the most vulnerable to live safely and independently.

The Homeless Period – these guys are making period and sanitary products should be available in shelters everywhere.

ROOF -another amazing organisation that provides hot food and drinks, toiletries and kindness to those sleeping rough in the city center.

Carla Lane Animal Rescue – its not just humans who need help at Christmas and Carla Lane rescue, rehabilitate and re-home dogs, cats and other animals.

If you know and support any Liverpool based charities, please pop them in the comments below or tweet me, and we can all get donating.

*JB from JLS voice* Merry Christmas!

A huge thank-you to Graffiti Spirits, Luya Agency and all the staff at Miracle on Seel Street for putting on a wonderful launch night.
